The Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting Prof. Dr. Rumen Brussarsky awarded to the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov a donation from Prof. Dr. Tsvetan Kolev. The donation includes the valuable archives of the working group that has developed the new structure of our university and prepared its transformation from an institute into a university.
The donation consists of 15 archival documents and will be kept in the UNWE Public Collection - History of UNWE.

Prof. Dr. Tsvetan Kolev is a long-time lecturer at the UNWE Economics Department and in 1990 he has led the group that was commissioned to develop a project for a new structure and transformation of Karl Marx Higher Institute of Economics into the University of National and World Economy.
The project was commissioned by Prof. Dr. Lalyo Radulov, who was the Rector of our university at that time.
A working group was set up to work out and present the overall vision for the establishment and development of the university with a package of documents for its new structure and activities. As part of the working process various options for the name of the university were discussed and the current name - University of National and World Economy - was adopted.

On the basis of the prepared project, at the end of November 1990 the Academic Council decided to transform Karl Marx Higher Economic Institute into the University of National and World Economy and in 1991 the new /departmental/ structure of the university was incorporated.
By a resolution of the 37th National Assembly announced in the State Gazette No. 68 of 1 August 1995 Karl Marx Higher Economic Institute was officially transformed into the University of National and World Economy.
