The UNWE represented by the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov and the Municipality of Etropole represented by the Mayor Eng. Vladimir Alexandrov signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov pointed out that "by signing such agreements with municipalities the UNWE aims to contribute to the creation and maintenance of an appropriate institutional environment that promotes tripartite partnership between the university, local government and the business community. Sustainable development policies at local level should be inextricably linked to the education and the future of young people, and the involvement of local authorities in this process is crucial". The Rector added that in the current year the UNWE would again organize external preliminary entrance examinations in the format of the State Matriculation Examination in various cities across the country, which has generated a lot of interest among the prospective students as it is another option for admission into the University. He also pointed out other opportunities for cooperation for the benefit of youth such as the visits of high school pupils to the University and their participation in national and sports competitions. He pointed out that for the first time the UNWE has organized a competition for the best administration and outlined the importance of promoting the good practices.
The Mayor Eng. Vladimir Alexandrov emphasized the importance of the partnership between the two institutions for the implementation of joint projects, joint events, the participation of lecturers and other representatives of UNWE in meetings, expert opinions, statistical and other studies and events organized by the Municipality of Etropole as well as the participation of its representatives in presentations to students, in lectures, seminars and other events organized by the UNWE. Eng. Alexandrov showed interest in the possibilities of UNWE for conducting studies related to the possibilities of the Municipality and the preparation of a development assessment. He also made a commitment to organize a meeting of the Directors of both high schools in town with representatives of the University to support the career guidance of students and the necessary accreditation for specialities.

The Memorandum of Cooperation also provides for visits by students to the community, meetings with practitioners, the organization of internships and practices. Both institutions will cooperate in conducting studies and research in the field of public administration, local government and other areas in support of good public administration.
