Media and Public Communications Department - UNESCO Chair in Media and Information Literacy and Cultural Policies for Sustainable Development has joined the Global University Network for Innovation /GUNi/. The Global University Network for Innovation was established in 1999, following the UNESCO World Conference on Higher Education, to monitor agreements and act as an expert organization in the university policy and governance.

The Global University Network for Innovation /GUNi/ is a UNESCO network aimed at promoting the higher education and university policies worldwide. GUNi is actively supported by UNESCO and the Catalan Association of Public Universities /ACUP/, which has held the presidency and secretariat since 2014 and is one of the world's leading and most prestigious international think tanks on higher education policy and governance. The Network brings together 297 members from 89 countries, including higher education institutions, UNESCO Chairs and research centers. The Network is also a reference institution in the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals /SDGs/ in the higher education, research and university governance. GUNi implements its activities in five main areas of work:
- Reports on higher education in the world.
- Strategic agendas.
- International cooperation and European projects.
- International conferences, seminars and workshops.
- The 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
By joining this prestigious global initiative, the UNWE and the Media and Public Communications Department reconfirm their mission to promote the innovation in education and the development of inclusive and sustainable policies in the academic, media and communications spheres.
