A delegation from the University of Economics and Business, part of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi /VNU-UEB/, visited the UNWE and a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the two universities. The delegation was led by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Bulgaria H. E. Mr. Do Hoang Long and his wife Dr. Tong Thi Minh Phuong, Lecturer, Department of World Economy and International Economic Relations, Faculty of International Business and Economics, National University of Vietnam /VNU-UEB)/, who recently delivered a public lecture at our university. The delegation included representatives of the Managing Body of the National University of Vietnam /VNU-UEB/ - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thanh Huong, Vice Dean in charge of Faculty of International Business and Economics, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thi Hong Diep, Vice Dean of Faculty of Political Economy as well as lecturers and students from both Faculties of the National University of Vietnam /VNU-UEB/.
The Vietnamese guests were welcomed in the Academic Hall by the Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, the Vice Rector for International Affairs Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yanko Hristozov, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vasil Petkov, Head of the International Economic Relations and Business Department, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Monika Moraliyska, Deputy Head of the Department, Dr. Milen Markov, Director of the International Activities Directorate, Detelina Angelova, Head of the Mobility Division and students studying in the specialties of the International Economic Relations and Business Department.
The Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov and the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Business and Economics of the National University of Vietnam Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thanh Huong signed a Memorandum of Cooperation including the exchange of lecturers and students, lectures and professional development programmes, academic exchange, joint research and other mutually beneficial educational and scientific activities.

Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov welcomed the guests, pointing out that this is not the first visit of representatives of the National University of Vietnam, several joint events have already been organized and held. He outlined that for the UNWE, as the largest business university in Southeast Europe having about 20,000 students "it is of utmost importance to deepen its cooperation with the Vietnamese universities, because this will provide more opportunities for education, exchange and professional development for the students from both countries as well as opportunities for academic exchange and joint research for the lecturers from both countries". The Rector added that the UNWE is No 1 and has obtained the highest accreditation assessment among other Bulgarian universities by the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency - 9.80. "This year our university celebrates 105 years since its establishment and can boast of its graduates including 12 Prime Ministers of Bulgaria, the IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, 150 ministers as well as a Vice President of Vietnam, who is not the only Vietnamese student graduated from the UNWE. His name as well as the names of all the UNWE graduates who have become part of the national and global elite over the years can be seen on the Wall of Fame where we decided to organize an exhibition dedicated to the 75th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Vietnam", said in conclusion Prof. Dimitrov.
The Ambassador of Vietnam H. E. Mr. Do Hoang Long pointed out that it was a great honour for him to contribute to such a significant event as the signing of the Memorandum between the two universities. "I think today's event is just the beginning of a long and fruitful cooperation as both universities are specialized in the field of economics, so I wish they will succeed to cooperate in the most appropriate way and be mutually beneficial to both their students and lecturers", added the Vietnamese Ambassador.

On behalf of the Managing Body of the National University of Vietnam /VNU-UEB/ the Vice Dean of the Faculty of International Business and Economics Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thang Huong expressed gratitude for the opportunity to cooperate and presented the National University of Vietnam /VNU-UEB/ as the most successful one occupying the top places in the university rankings. "I am sure that the cooperation with a large university such as the UNWE will be very beneficial for our students and contribute to their successful future development", declared Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Thanh Huong.
The Head of the International Relations and Business Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vasil Petkov welcomed the guests and presented the International Economics and Politics Faculty. He pointed out that the four Departments of the Faculty educate students in the same fields and specialities as the National University of Vietnam /VNU-UEB/ - international economic relations, international business, international investment and diplomacy, and expressed confidence that the cooperation between the two universities will contribute to the positive development not only of students but also of lecturers and research.
The guests visited the exhibition dedicated to the 75th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Vietnam, located in the lobby in front of the Wall of Fame at the UNWE.

The Vietnamese delegation went to Aurora Hall where the Head of the International Relations and Business Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vasil Petkov and the Deputy Head of the Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Monika Moraliyska made a presentation and presented to the Vietnamese students the establishment and history of the UNWE, the specialties and joint programmes with foreign universities, the opportunities for exchange of students and lecturers as well as the opportunities for mobility under the Erasmus+ Programme and ENGAGE.EU.
The guests from Vietnam visited key places in the University building and visited the modern UNWE Library where they were impressed by the PhD theses defended by Vietnamese citizens at our University which were shown to them by the Library staff.
