The UNWE and SDSN Bulgaria hosted the ENGAGE.EU Third International Scientific Conference for Young Scientists on the Responsible Production and Consumption: Current Issues and Progress on the Sustainable Development Goals /Goal 12/.

The major objective of the Conference is to bring together early stage researchers /e.g. junior lecturers, postdoctoral students and postgraduate researchers/ who are part of ENGAGE.EU partner universities and who are interested in the current status and challenges of the UN SDGs. The event aims to facilitate the communication and future collaboration between the representatives of these target groups as well as to attract the stakeholders among the SDSN Bulgaria member universities. Participants have the opportunity to meet in person or online in an international forum with a strong presence of colleagues with similar interests and to present their current work or completed studies.

Prof. Dr. Venelin Boshnakov, Dean of the Applied Informatics and Statistics Faculty and Coordinator of the ENGAGE.EU scientific activities at the UNWE, greeted the attendees on behalf of the Rector of the UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov and emphasized that the UNWE for the third consecutive year hosts the ENGAGE.EU International Scientific Conference for Young Scientists, this time is in cooperation with SDSN Bulgaria. Prof.Boshnakov reminded that last year the theme of the Conference was also related to the Sustainable Development Goals but the focus of the reports and discussions was Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth: Current Issues and Progress. The theme of the current Forum - Responsible Production and Consumption: Current Issues and Progress on the Sustainable Development Goals /Goal 12/ - is extremely important in the context of the green transition because it will provide an opportunity for young scientists to exchange ideas and discuss issues related to the green production, sustainable consumption, circular and green economy.

Prof. D.Sc. Michail Musov, Co-Chair of SDSN Bulgaria and ENGAGE.EU Institutional Coordinator for UNWE, pointed out that our university is proud to be part of the European University Network ENGAGE.EU and to host this special event aimed at young scientists and researchers. He drew attention to the actuality of the topic and expressed his conviction that the papers and discussions would contribute to the search and finding of solutions for sustainable development.
