Within three days /24-26 March 2022/ UNWE hosted a working meeting of the consortium on the ERMIScom project "COMMON CURRICULA FOR DIVERSITY: EDUCATION IN MEDIA AND INTEGRATION OF VULNERABLE GROUPS". The project objective is to develop a common curriculum among the participating higher education institutions aimed at increasing the effectiveness of media courses to counter fake news and hate speech disseminated online on social media in order to facilitate social integration and inclusion of vulnerable social groups. The project consists of a set of work packages and intellectual results.
The Coordinator of the university consortium and the project is Dr. Savatu Tsolakidou from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She is also responsible for the intellectual results in Work Package 4 on "Vulnerable Groups and Cultural Trauma".
In the project the UNWE is a leader of two work packages / intellectual results, respectively:
- Work Package 2 / intellectual result 2: “FAKE NEWS & HATE SPEECH: REPRESENTATION OF VULNERABLE SOCIAL GROUPS IN THE MEDIA“ and
- Work Package 6 / intellectual result 6 ”FUNDS & PROGRAMS: SOCIAL INTEGRATION AND RIGHTS RELATED PROJECTS.
The specific work packages are under the leadership of UNWE for the evaluated experience and expertise of the University in the media and communication as well as in the project management.
The Head of Work Package 2 is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Stella Angova, Head of the Media and Public Communications Department and the Head of Work Package 6 is Prof. Dr. Diana Kopeva from the Department of Economics of Natural Resources. In the project participate 10 lecturers and administrative staff from the UNWE.
